Records

Quick Links:

Archery records are kept by clubs, Counties, and Regions, as well as Archery GB and World Archery. Records are categorised by bow-style, gender and age (for juniors), for eligible rounds and conditions. All archers including para and VI archers are eligible to shoot for records.

VI Archery Records

There are three organisations that maintain specific records for VI archery. Each has their own set of requirements in terms of sight classification of the archer, the archer and their equipment and the rounds that are recognised.

Please note that Archery GB or World Archery records cannot automatically be accepted as BBS Archery records and a separate claim is required.

BBS Archery Records

Below is the list of current BBS Archery VI Records.
By default the entire list of current records is displayed but it is possible to narrow down what is displayed using filters for round, gender, age category, sight class, sighting method and/or bow type.

This section of the website has recently been updated and redesigned. Please sent any comments, criticisms or feedback to [email protected].

Records Table Filters

To filter the records, select the Sight Classification, Bow type, Round, Age Group etc. as required and click “Filter”.
To view all the complete, un-filtered list of records again, click “Reset”.

Notes

A number of rounds have changed names over the years. These results use the name the round is known by now and not necessarily the name that the round was known by at the time of the claim. Both names are retained for records. A narrative of some of these changes can be found below.

There have also been small changes to sight classifications over time. The VI-Open sight classification was approximately B4 and B4+/B5 combined but from early 2019 onwards B4 and B5 sight classifications will be issued instead of VI-Open for new or re-classifications. Records will be recognised based on the sight classification (B1 to B5 and VI-Open) held by the archer on the day the round was shot.

Burntwood Round Changes

The following Burntwood rounds were historically recorded under more specific distance names. These have since been grouped under standardised modern naming conventions.

• Burntwood York → Burntwood – York
• Double Burntwood York → Double Burntwood – York
• Burntwood York / Hereford / Bristol
Burntwood Hereford / Bristol → Burntwood – Hereford / All Bristols
• Double Burntwood Hereford / Bristol
Double Burntwood York / Hereford / Bristol → Double Burntwood – Hereford / All Bristols
• Burntwood Albion / Windsor
Burntwood St. George / Albion / Windsor → Burntwood – Albion / All Windsors
• Burntwood National → Burntwood – All Nationals

Sighting Methods and Eligibility Notes

Some historic records were shot using sighting methods that are no longer recognised for new BBS Archery records.

• Open-tactile
Use of a tactile sight by an archer with a B4, B5 or VI-Open classification.
• Non-tactile
Use of a sighting aid other than a tactile sight by an archer with a B1–B3 classification.
• Barebow (no sight)
Use of no sighting aid by an archer with a B4–B5 classification.

These methods remain valid for historic records but are not recognised for new record claims.
