Once You Have Completed Your Course

Once you have completed your course and wish to join a club or shoot as a visitor at an Archery GB club, there are a number of other steps you will need to take.

Archery GB Membership

You will need to join Archery GB (opens in new window), either through your local Club or directly. Membership includes insurance cover and is mandatory if you want to shoot at AGB clubs and in competitions. You will also receive a free copy of AGB's quarterly magazine Archery UK (you will need to search for Archery UK) (opens in new window).

Club Membership

If you decide to join a club, you will have to pay club membership fees and possibly separate shooting fees. Club fees vary and will be in addition to the Archery GB fee, although they may be combined by your archery club into one payment.

British Blind Sport Membership

You may also want to consider becoming a member of British Blind Sport (BBS) (opens in new window). This includes membership of BBS-AS. The benefits of membership are:

Free Sight Classifications

All VI archers must have a valid sight classification (opens in new window) to take part in any Record Status or VI specific competition. By becoming a member of British Blind Sport (opens in new window) you will enjoy the benefit of getting your sight classification done free of charge by the BBS classifiers. Non-BBS members have to pay a fee significantly higher than the British Blind Sport membership fee.

Target Magazine

You will receive a copy of the “Target Magazine”, each quarter, containing news and information about all BBS sports.

Fund Raising and Subsidies

BBS raises funds on behalf of all their sports, as a result BBS-AS has been given funds to partially subsidise the cost to members attending the BBS-AS championships at Lilleshall National Sports and Conferencing Centre (opens in new window) twice a year.

BBS-AS Indoor and Outdoor Championships

As a BBS member, you are eligible to compete in the BBS-AS Indoor and Outdoor Championships held at Lilleshall NSC (opens in new window). These Championships are open to BBS-AS members only.

Subsidised Performance Coaching

We currently run subsidised Performance Coaching Sessions at Stoke Mandeville Stadium (opens in new window). These sessions are open to BBS-AS members only.

What's next?

Once you have joined a club and been shooting for a few weeks, then you may want to consider your equipment choices.
