Standard G.N.A.S. / FITA Rounds

The following paragraphs include information about the rounds used by archers across Britain and the rest of the world.

OUTDOOR ROUNDS

Imperial Rounds

Scoring is 9, 7, 5, 3, 1

The face used in all rounds is the 122 cm face.

First set of rounds are the York, Hereford, and Bristols. 

They are all shot in sets of 6 dozen, 4 dozen and 2 dozen arrows.

York                        100 yards, 80 yards and 60 yards.

Hereford/Bristol 1     80 yards, 60 yards and 50 yards.

Bristol 2                  60 yards, 50 yards and 40 yards.

Bristol 3                  50 yards, 40 yards and 30 yards.

Bristol 4                  40 yards, 30 yards and 20 yards.

Bristol 5                  20 yards, 15 yards and 10 yards

The second set of rounds are the St. George, Albion and Windsors. 

They are shot in sets of 3 dozen, 3 dozen and 3 dozen.

St. George               100 yards, 80 yards and 60 yards.

Albion                     80 yards,60 yards and 50 yards.

Windsor                   60 yards, 50 yards and 40 yards.

Short Windsor          50 yards, 40 yards and 30 yards.

Junior Windsor          40 yards, 30 yards, 20 yards.

The third set of rounds are the Westerns. 

They are shot in sets of 4 dozen and 4 dozen.

New Western                    100 yards and 80 yards.

Long Western                   80 yards and 60 yards.

Western                          60 yards and 50 yards.

Short Western                  50 yards and 40 yards.

Junior Western                 40 yards and 30 yards.

Short Junior Western         30 yards and 20 yards.

The fourth set of rounds are the Nationals.

They are shot in sets of 4 dozen and 2 dozen.

New National                    100 yards and 80 yards.

Long National                   80 yards and 60 yards.

National                          60 yards and 50 yards.

Short National                  50 yards and 40 yards.

Junior National                 40 yards and 30 yards.

Short Junior National         30 yards and 20 yards.

The fifth set of rounds are the Warwicks.

They are shot in sets of 2 dozen and 2 dozen

The New Warwick              100 yards and 80 yards.

The Long Warwick             80 yards and 60 yards.

The Warwick                     60 yards and 50 yards.

The Short Warwick            50 yards and 40 yards.

The Junior Warwick            40 yards and 30 yards.

The Short Junior Warwick   30 yards and 20 yards.

The sixth set of rounds is the American.

This is shot in sets of 2 and a half dozen at 3 different distances

American                 60 yards, 50 yards and 40 yards.

The seventh set of rounds is the St. Nicholas.

This is shot in sets of 4 dozen and 3 dozen.

St.Nicholas              40 yards and 30 yards.

Metric Rounds

Scoring is 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Two faces are used either 80cm face or 122cm face

The first set of rounds are the FITA rounds.

The Gentlemen and Ladies FITA is shot in four sets of 3 dozen arrows.

For the Gentlemen the first two distances are 90 metres and 70 metres with a 122cm face.

The second two distances are 50 metres and 30 metres with an 80cm face.

For the Ladies the first two distances are 70 metres and 60 metres with a 122cm face.

The second two distances are 50 metres and 30 metres with an 80cm face.

The half FITA for Gentlemen and Ladies is the same distances and faces as the full FITA

but with one and a half dozen arrows at each distance.

The second set of Metric rounds are shot in sets of 3 dozen arrows at four distances.

Metric 1      70 metres and 60 metres on a 122cm face and then 50 metres and 30 metres on an 80cm face.

Metric 2      60 metres and 50 metres on a 122cm face and then 40 metres and 30 metres on an 80cm face.

Metric 3      50 metres and 40 metres on a 122cm face and then 30 metres and 20 metres on an 80cm face.

Metric 4      40 metres and 30 metres on a 122cm face and then 20 metres and 10 metres on an 80cm face.

Metric 5      30 metres and 20 metres on a 122cm face and then 15 metres and 10 metres on an 80cm face.

The third set of Metric rounds are shot in sets of 3dozen arrows at two distances all on a 122cm face.

Long Metric Gentlemen     90 metres and  70 metres.

Long Metric Ladies           70 metres and  60 metres.

Long Metric 1                  70 metres and  60 metres.

Long Metric 2                  60 metres and  50 metres.

Long Metric 3                  50 metres and  40 metres.

Long Metric 4                  40 metres and  30 metres.

Long Metric 5                  30 metres and  20 metres.

The fourth set of Metric rounds are shot in sets of 3dozen arrows at two distances all on an 80cm face.

Short Metric              50 metres and  30 metres.

Short Metric 1           50 metres and  30 metres.

Short Metric 2           40 metres and  30 metres.

Short Metric 3           30 metres and  20 metres.

Short Metric 4           20 metres and  10 metres.

Short Metric 5           15 metres and  10 metres.

The fifth set of Metric rounds are shot in sets of one and a half dozen arrows at four distances.

Half Metric 1             70 metres and 60 metres on a 122cm face and then 50 metres and 30 metres on an 

80cm face.

Half Metric 2             60 metres and 50 metres on a 122cm face and then 40 metres and 30 metres on an 

80cm face.

Half Metric 3             50 metres and 40 metres on a 122cm face and then 30 metres and 20 metres on an 

80cm face.

Half Metric 4             40 metres and 30 metres on a 122cm face and then 20 metres and 10 metres on an 

80cm face.

Half Metric 5             30 metres and 20 metres on a 122cm face and then 15 metres and 10 metres on an 

80cm face.

A FITA 900  is shot in three sets of two and a half dozen arrows on a 122cm face. 

The distances are 60 metres, 50 metres and 40 metres.

A FITA 70m  is shot in one set of six dozen arrows on a 122cm face. 

The distance is 70 metres.

A FITA Standard is shot in two sets of three dozen arrows on a 122cm face. 

The distances are 50 metres and 30 metres.

A FITA 900  is shot in three sets of two and a half dozen arrows on a 122cm face. 

The distances are 60 metres, 50 metres and 40 metres.

Indoor Rounds.

All indoor rounds are scored 10, 9,8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 except the Worcester and Vegas rounds.

The Bray 1 is one set 2 ½ dozen on a 40cm face at 20 yards.

The Bray 2 is one set 2 ½ dozen on a 60cm face at 25 yards.

A Portsmouth is one set of 5 dozen arrows shot on a 60cm face at 20 yards.

A Stafford is one set of 5 dozen arrows shot at 30 metres on an 80cm face

A Worcester is 5 dozen arrows at 20 yards.  These are  shot in ends of 5 arrows.  The round is shot on two special 16 inch faces one above the other.  5 sets of arrows are shot on each face. The scoring zones are 5, 4, 3, 2and 1.

A Vegas is 5 dozen arrows at 20 yards.  This is a special round where there are three faces  in a triangle.  The faces are  40cm but only contain scoring zones 10, 9, 8, 7 and 6. 

A FITA 18 is one set of 5dozen arrows shot on a 40cm face at 18 metres. 

A FITA 25 is one set of 5dozen arrows shot on a 60 cm face at 25 metres.

A combined FITA is both a FITA 18 and a FITA 25.
