Shooting Categories

The IBSA (International Blind Sport Association) systems of Sight Classifications are used by BBS Archery. All archers must have a Sight Classification registered with BBS Head Office.

A Sight Classification Letter and Form can be found in the Sight Classifications Downloads Section.

Within each Shooting Sight Class there are divisions for Recurve, Compound, Longbow and Barebow. There are also divisions of Gents and Ladies and also Junior Gent and Junior Ladies.

The shooting divisions and the requirements within BBS Archery are as follows:

  • B1
    • Archers must have a Sight Class of B1
    • Archers must shoot wearing Blackouts/Blind Folds
    • Archers must use a Tactile Sighting Device
  • B2/3
    • Archers must have a Sight Class of B2 or B3
    • Archers must use a Tactile Sighting Device
    • Archers must have an inability to use a Bow Sight
  • V.I. Open
    • Any Archers that do not fit into any other Categories
    • Any Archers using a Bowsight
